What to buy in Duty Free at airports - Tax Free Shopping?!

Hey guys!

If you follow my snapchat (mathusas) you probably know by now that whenever I fly abroad I don't  miss the chance to drop by at the duty free and buy some products. The reason I do this is because I get many exclusive offers as well as that tax free shopping is great. Sometimes people say airport shopping is more expensive. However, this is not always true. It depends on what you buy and on your location. Every country has its own benefits in each duty free. For example Alcohol is known to be very cheap in Germany while its the most expensive in the UK. Meanwhile in the UK Duty Free's fragrances are the cheapest and cosmetics the second cheapest after India's duty free. For a blogger this is great that's all I need to be honest. So to answer the overall question what you buy at Duty Free depends on which country the airport you are at as in. If you want to find out what products are the cheapest in which countries, I would recommend using this website - Duty Free Addict

Make up, fragrances, fashion are the cheapest in the UK so for me that's all I need which is why I am always so early at airports. I would really recommend buying Duty Free Mac products as they are so cheap. As well as that the duty free shops usually give offers such as 5 pounds off when you spend over 75 pounds which is an easily achieved total when you buy fragrances and make up.

Hope this helped! Oh I forgot to mention...I arrived in Germany today and was at the airport that's why I'm randomly talking about duty free shopping.

"Thinner girls have a better life" Really? Weight Loss for the right reasons!

Hey guys,

My weight loss blog post have  been very popular and ever since I have been getting so many emails from you guys. Today I would like to take a different approach and tell you that there is no magic that transforms your life to a better life. Yes losing weight did change my life in many ways and I do look different but although my physical appearance changed - I have always been the same person. This is something that has been bothering me lately. This obsession of being a certain size or weight is not for the right reasons. The media promotes thinner girls in a different way. In movies, the slightly chubby girl always gets represented as goofy, weird or she struggles to find love and then gets her desired boy at the end. That is so not what young girls or women should be thinking.

Just because you are thin it is not easier for you to find love. Same goes for clothing shopping. Just because chubby girls cannot always find the things they like in the desired sizes doesn't mean that it is any easier for thinner girls. Not everything suits me now that I am 2 sizes smaller. In fact some clothing is actually too loose for me in certain areas because I don't have enough fat. Being thinner doesn't make your life "easier"! This mentality makes your weight loss 10 x easier.

So please if you are trying to gain or loose weight do it for the right reasons. Not because that way of life just seems easier. Being thinner doesn't make your life perfect. Loose weight because you may feel more confident, happier and healthier. Not because you think others will like you more that way or because you think that you will get more attention from your crush.

River Island affair and Careful Stress or Health?

Hey guys,

so after a longer time I have actually left my house and went out to party. Okay long time in the world of a uni student is only 4 weeks but you know long time for me still. This is kinda two posts squished into one as I wanna tell you about two things. First of all my affair with River Island. I'm more of a Topshop and Missguided girl when it comes to dresses. As I was desperate for a dress I thought I'd give River Island a chance and I am positively surprised. Nothing against River Island but I am just very specific when looking for dresses.  Do you guys like it?

Dress: River Island   Heels: Public Desire

So to the second bit of my post. Remember my last post "When it all gets too much". These were my words-  "In all honesty I lost my passion to blog. Low energy levels but I tried to fix up over the weekend. I slept for a whole day to catch up with 2 weeks worth of sleep."
It's not like me at all to lose passion to blog and I have never felt this weak in my life. So I decided to go to the doctor and the blood tests result showed that I have iron deficiencies so I'm anaemic and I am low in Vitamin D. Only a few vitamins but they made a huge difference to my energy levels. I couldn't do anything at all, I felt like sleeping through my entire life. The point of this post is - don't blame everything on your stress levels. Don't forget about your health and get it checked! Thank god I checked in time and got the supplements in time so that I didn't permanently become anaemic. Best thing is to get things checked. Look after your health and eat well no matter how stressful life gets!

When it all gets too much

Hey guys!!

I am SO extremely sorry I know I haven't uploaded a post in months and I'd like my regular blog readers to know that I'm well and alive but just very busy. I have always stayed busy to not get bored but recently my life has escalated to its extremes. In all honesty I lost my passion to blog. Low energy levels but I tried to fix up over the weekend. I slept for a whole day to catch up with 2 weeks worth of sleep. I think I'm back on track now and I'm managing well.
To update you the reason I am so busy is because this year I am the president of the Tamil Society at my university and it's a lot more work than I thought it would be. There's a huge amount of responsibility on my head. I must say it's all paying off. Our dance team made it to a inter university dance competition for the first time ever. Back on the healthy track too so I'm eating well and I've started going to the gym again. Let's see where it takes me? I already have good weight loss news to share with you guys and I am not going to disappear for months again. :)

My top University Fresher 'survival' tips!

Hey guys,

after the huge interest in my university packing guide I decided to make another guide for you. Many of you will be starting your first year of university next week and are so nervous, excited and don't know what to expect. I will try to give you the best description of what its like and my top tips but I won't reveal too much as I want you guys to experience for yourself and make some important memories.
First of all - what even is Freshers? If you are thinking that don't worry I was a little confused too. I have no older siblings that went to university before so I had no idea what to expect or what it is even about. Freshers week is usually a week or two organised by your university Union to bring you all together, help you find friends but also feel welcome at your new university. A lot of you will be moving out and leaving your parent home for the first time so I can guarantee you that you will have days where you feel lonely, sad or miss your family. Don't worry it all comes with it yet somehow you will end up loving university in less than a year and by the time you have your next summer holiday you'll miss university so much that you can't wait to go back. Freshers week is there to keep you distracted and stop thinking about home so here's my first tip...

Don't sit around doing nothing...
There's a reason why freshers week was organised. Use the events and go out and have a good time even if you feel homesick, once you're there it will be a great distraction and remember everyone around you is feeling the exact same way, you all just left your parent home it's not only you.
Be Social
This leads to the next tip - really be as social as possible! You may not have been a social butterfly at school but now is time if you want to try. In fact I was the kid in school who had a few groups of friends yet I wouldn't speak to certain people because I was too shy. I was quiet and at the back of the room, I'm sure at least 60% of people didn't even know what kind of person I was in school because we never communicated. Only once I left for university and started getting the confidence with blogging did people see what I was like. Point is during the first few weeks of university is when people feel the most social and would want to talk to new people because everyone's in  the same boat trying to make friends. Talk to people whenever you get the chance. If you don't know how to start a can literally say anything - I started a conversation once saying "hey you're left handed too?!" Haha guess what she's my closest mate in uni now so it works!

Don't feel pressured
For goodness sake please don't feel pressured to do anything you don't want to do at university. A lot of people do crazy things because they have nobody to control them - just because everyone is doing it doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. If you feel like you don't want to do something or it's against your morals please don't try to fit in and don't do it.

Uni is not school
If you were a popular child at school I'm sorry but you're not anymore. Have fun starting from the beginning. Your school hierarchy doesn't exist anymore. If anything everyone is so chill at uni, don't be scared to talk to someone. Bullying shouldn't even happen there and doesn't really happen anyways. Such thing as cool kids don't exist sorry, if anything y'all are cool.

Also forget the person you were at school! If you want to dye your hair pink, green, blue, cut your hair or get a piercing do it now before you get to uni. They're meeting a new you, that's how they will know you. It's fine changes aren't always bad.

New Housemates
Bond with them!! Don't be the kid who has their door closed and doesn't feel like talking to them. You will live under the same roof and whether you like it or not you'll need each other trust me! If you get on well you can be of good use to each other. Get bin routine and cleaning routine sorted before you become besties! Get the important things sorted first because once you get too nice to each other you might feel awkward asking them to take out the bin.

Take risks
Take small reasonable risks and do something fun. You'll remember freshers forever, make it good.

Be careful
Having that said don't do anything stupid.
Look after yourself
Don't fall ill! Please don't! Once you're ill, you're forever ill in uni. That's how it works, trust me. Freshers flue is a bitch.

Don't just party - Freshers fayre
I know there's a lot of partying on the plan but take some time to go to the freshers fayre too and find some societies you could be interested in, talk to them and go to their meet and greets. These are the places where you meet people with similar interests and meet most of your friends.

Of course you will be now and then! Skype your friends at other unis. Check if they're doing alright. I had friends who were crying during freshers because they missed home.  Be there for them. The same friends will love uni so much in 6 months time haha but that's how it is at the beginning.

That's it! I'll stop revealing too much. I really hope this helped you. If you have any questions feel free to leave a question in the comments I'm here to help. I hope you enjoy uni as much as I do and have a great year.

How to pack for University | University packing guide

Hey guys,

School has started for most high schools kids which means that it's time for the university year to start soon. On the internet you will find so many things preparing you for the start of the school year, from what to pack to fashion advice and school survival tips. When I started university I was looking around for similar posts or videos and there really isn't many out there. So after being in university for a year I know what kind of concerns, thoughts and questions you must be having if you're going to start university soon. If you're moving out you're probably stressing about what to pack right now and at the same time busy saying bye to your friends and family at home. I know it is a very stressful time for you, trying to sort out your accommodation, figuring out what you will do once you arrive at university. This is why I have decided to have a series of posts related to university life to get through it smoothly. I really hope this helps you but as always if you have any questions please feel free to email me at I may take a few days to reply but I will definitely reply.

University Packing Guide

Check what the university provides in your room first before buying them again. Read through the safety regulations regarding candles and keeping a kettle. Don't pack too much remember your university room will be quite small and hasn't got much storage space and you'll be moving out in less than a year.

Your room
Any decoration - remember your room won't be that big and there is restrictions as to what you can keep in university halls. Candles - forbidden at most university halls and they actually check your room throughout the year at least once so don't even attempt it.

Clothes - pack for the right season - your wardrobe won't be as big as at home so the best thing to do would be to pack the clothes you need for September - December and then you'll be going back home for a one month holiday so you could just take back some clothes and bring a few new clothes back.

Basics - jeans, rain jacket, underwear, pyjamas, socks - pack as many socks as possible!!! you won't have to do your laundry as much if you never run out of the basics since you'll have plenty of clothes

- night out clothes - for house parties/clubbing
- swim wear - in case you have these kind of opprtunities
- gym outfits - sport society required clothing

Shoes: A pair of heels, sport shoes, winter boots, casual everyday shoes
Girls please don't pack too many shoes you really don't have the space for it and neither do you need your best pair of heels as a student.

Clutch bag

- laundry bag
- washing powder - I recommend the Persil capsules it's much easier and you just have to throw one in without worrying about how much to put in
- clothes conditioner
- clothing rack (if not provided)

Bed sheets
Mattress cover

Warm Blanket - one day you'll need it trust me and you'll be grateful!

Towels, toiletries and cosmetic - mouthwash, toothpaste, toothbrush, make up (if you use any)
Shampoo, conditioner, face masks, shower gel etc. Anything you use for your body!
Shaving equipment - veet? Razor?
Tampons/Sanitary towels
Lip balms, body cream, face moisturizer
Glassses/contacts - cleaning liquid

First Aid Kit
- everyone needs one of these, trust me freshers flu will get you! It's real!
Whatever you take for a flu -

- uni bag, backpack?
Refill pad
Paper Clips
I wouldn't worry too much about stationary as you can buy all other items you would need once you get there after seeing what exactly you require, you don't want to be transporting too many things.

- mugs
- plates
- cutlery - cheap cutlery!! trust me it will disappear I can guarantee you that
- glasses
- tea/coffee holder tins
- saucepan
- baking tray - not provided!
- cheese grater
- bottle opener
- chopping board
- whisk
- sieve
- tea towels
- bottle opener
- vegetable peeler
- wooden spoon
- basic herbs and spices - I take my asian spices which are hard to find in Canterbury with me from London!
- mixing bowl
- pots and pans with lids
- tuperware
- sandwich bags and foil
- washing up liquid

Don't take more glasses, cutlery and plates than you need. It will encourage you to wash up straightaway.

I also recommend buying some snacks and food whilst your family can drive you around and help you with shopping. During freshers week you won't have much time to go food shopping to be honest so its best to get some food  for the first few days till you find your way to the closest supermarket - took me a while!

DO NOT throw out your boxes! You will need them in less than a year to move out of student accommodation again. Store them away somewhere if you can.

I hope this helped you guys! I will be back with more soon.

Weekend Getaway - Bristol

Hey guys,

After a long summer of working hard to save some money I went on a small weekend getaway to Bristol. Although it was only 2 days I must say it was a great weekend. Bristol is so beautiful as a city with so much to see. The shopping options are amazing there, if you live in Bristol you wouldn't have to travel all the way to London to get a great shopping experience. All the major brands are available there. As well as that Bristol has an amazing scenery as you can see from my pictures. Last time I read about Bristol was when I was 10 years old because the stories in the textbook was based on Bristol and I must say it was even better than I imagined.

    Clifton Suspension Bridge

    Bristol Harbour
Very close to Bristol Harbour there is a small authentic cafe called the Number 1 Harbourside. I absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is great in there and they have freshly made cakes there! If I lived in Bristol I'd be there at least once a week. The people there are so so nice!! I couldn't believe how lovely the people there were!

The Life of a Clumsy Girl! - Horrible First Day at Work

Hey guys!

Well what can I see I recently came to the realisation that I am extremely clumsy. You know some things are just part of your life that you don't even realise that it's something unnormal.
So let me explain what the eye opening event was. A few months ago I had my first day at my new summer job in Germany. I am now a waitress. Me being me I already knew this was going to happen at some point but never would I have thought that it would happen so soon. Well as you may have guessed already, I walked out with a serving tray filled with beer glasses. I was so focused on making my way to the right table and serving the right people and baaaam there you go - I trip, I stack,  I pour about 8 big glasses of beer all over me. I panic - I start frantically apologising to the customers in English - but wait didn't I say I was working in Germany?! Well seems like German was no longer at the tip of my tongue so my natural body reflex was to start panicking in English. I thought it was going to be the end of the world. The first day at my new job. I was definitely sure that I was going to lose the job. I apologise to my boss and had to continue working - serving customers soaked in beer head to toe!

3 months later....

I wrote about this a few months ago and I was not even sure if I was going to post this. After that day I was not sure if I was even going to continue work there today. Working there has taught me another life lesson. This is why I enjoy experiencing new things in life and trying new things. Every job I had in the past has taught me a lesson. I happened to meet very nice people at my workplace and although I had the worst first day ever I ended up having a pleasant time there and I will definitely go back and work there when I am in Germany again.

Moral of this short diary type entry is that I don't want you guys to ever give up on something just because you were having a bad day! Continue, keep trying and don't give up! I know I sound like an extremely annoying person who's always going on about motivational things but trust me it's true, if you don't give up you get amazing results!

I just wanted to let you know that I am back in London and soon back in University and will be updating my blog regularly for you guys! :)

(Got back to London and did my first blog shoot already!! It's just work work work)

Liquids to drink for a Healthy Weight Loss

Hey guys!

I stress the importance of water a lot usually. However, it is okay to drink water in other forms as long as they are healthy methods. In your healthy lifestyle you should be including healthy drinks for sure. This post should be useful to a lot of you. Especially if you aren't a great fan of water, which I wouldn't understand hah since I love it.

Drink honey in warm water - it works wonders if you do this everyday!!
You could also start your day with a fruit smoothie! Its a solid lining and will make sure that you don't get hungry before lunch time.

Ginger and lemon Detox tea- throw all those expensive detox teas away. It's as simple as 3 key ingredients - honey, lemon and ginger. All 3 of these are known for their great cleaning properties and it is very easy to make. However if you would like to see how I've uploaded a clip on Instagram! @undercovermathu

All you need to do is boil water, add ginger and one spoon of honey.

Do not drink this tea in the morning on an empty stomach!! I have bad experience with this. I already have ulcers in my stomach lining and the ginger is very strong and made it burn like hell!! I ended up throwing up throughout the day.
Either have it after or during your breakfast. However I would recommend you drinking this in the evening or at night just before going to bed.

Throughout the day drink Green Tea whenever you feel like having a small snack break or while you're sitting in front of the tv or computer. Green tea has also got many amazing benefits for your skin!!

Aspirin Face Mask for Acne, Pimples, Uneven Skintone or Blemishes

Hey guys!

After my last acne scars treatment video I received a lot of messages asking for tips to get ride of pimples. I would highly recommend this mask in emergencies but I must say its not to be used daily or more than once a week even! This is really only meant for emergencies or minor breakouts.

If you have oily skin you can use this mask once a week, whereas if you have dry or combination skin only use it once a month and you'll still see amazing results after a continuous monthly use. If you do have sensitive skin please do not use it!

You need:
2 aspirin tablets
1 egg white - if you are allergic to egg white you can use honey too!
toilet tissue

Aspirin has great anti-inflammatory properties and so it's useful for blemishes, redness, acne and uneven skintone.

Egg white - helps control the secretion of excess sebum, tightens your pores for a firmer feel

I hope you enjoy this video! Subscribe if you are interested in these videos and would like to see more. :)

My Dream Job and Vision for my Life

Hey guys!

We all have dreams. Somewhere where we see ourselves in a certain number of years. I am a very future focused person. I like to set a big goal and work towards it. I'm not too sure what the purpose of life is but I try to create myself a purpose in it. Something that will give it meaning. For all I know one day I would like to look back and say "look all the time you've been working has paid off." I want to make some sort of change, whether big or small. I just always look for things to do in my extra time.
So what would be my dream job? Well I have this vision of myself....

If not NYC then London or Berlin or may Colombo. I don't mind anywhere in the world. I would like to a career focused woman working on something big or life changing. One might say stop looking for a purpose in life and just live life. Well to that I would like to say that personally I would rather spend my time working on something that makes me happy and gives me a feeling of achievement rather than following a routine, doing the same thing everyday and just living life because you have to.
So what kind of job am I thinking? Well as I am currently completing a degree in Chemistry I would love to start off in that field. However, I would like to then take this further to other things. Maybe banking or even Event Management. I would love to organise a wedding one day for someone and help them on their big day. I have always had a feeling of achievement when doing something for someone else and seeing their happy faces. Organising things is my other big interest. I just love organising things, whatever it is - your wedding, baby shower, bacherlorette party....whatever it is I am the girl to contact. I would do it with great joy.
My point is I am young, not even 20 yet and I have my whole life ahead of me. I may not have an exact job in mind but I do know how I want to be as a person - independent, organised, happy, creative and most importantly I want to be able to work on something.
Will I be blogging? Of course I will always continue, at this rate even into my 80s if I get to live that long.
This was a small insight of my many thoughts that I wanted to share with you guys. What do you think about life? Where would you like to be? What would you like to achieve? Share your thoughts with me I would love to read them!

Egg Peel Off Mask for Acne Scars, Tighter pores and removal of Blackheads

Hey guys!

It's time for another 2 minute video. Follow me on instagram to stay updated with these mini clips - @undercovermathu
Today I'd like to introduce you to an egg peel off mask that you can make at home! Watch me do it!
You need:
Half a lemon
One egg white
a bit of toilet paper

As seen on the video squeeze out the lemon juice, mix it with egg white. If you are allergic to any of the products please do not attempt to use this mask. Test the mask first on your arm. If you experience an allergic reaction please do not continue.

Cut the toilet paper pieces into the right sizes suited to your face!
Please do not put the mask on any hair areas that you don't want to be removed such as eyebrows and hairline - as this mask also works great to remove hair.
For best results, only peel off the mask slowly after it is completely dry and is hard.

This mask is amazing. As soon as I took it off I could tell that my pores were tighter. My skin felt stiffly pulled together. The lemon juice will help to leave your face look bright and polished afterwards. When wearing this mask my face started itching in some places - don't worry that's not a bad sign.

Hope you enjoyed this video and I will be back with another 2 minute tip next week!

Holiday Vibes// How I'm spending my Summer

Hey guys!

After a long adventurous summer in 2015 - Europe Roadtrip, trip to Sri Lanka etc. it was time for a more calm summer holiday. I haven't written a post for you guys in a really long time just stating what I'm really up to. So currently I am in Germany still. I have spent the last 2 weeks just really relaxing meeting my childhood friends and just exploring my hometown seeing what changed - well not much has changed really.

Just relaxing made me realise how long its been since I've had a break like this. I felt endless tiredness for a whole week. Now that I am back and fit, I have started getting back into a routine. I don't want to just rot around all summer haha. So I decided to find myself a job in Germany. I am currently working as a waitress and am also trying to stay healthy. I have started training at home and I go on regular jogs with my friends as you may have already seen on snapchat! (Snapchat: mathusas)

So currently I am saving money, exploring new cities and just soaking in as much sun as possible. As well as that I have started with youtube again!
As always I am staying as busy as possible! Being in Germany means it's flexible for me to visit the neighbouring countries so stay tuned!

Personality of July - Dancer Trin3ergykrrish

Hey guys!

It's undercoverchick...It's time to introduce you to the Personality of July. This month's personality of the month is Krrishna Sivakumaran also known by his dancer name trin3rgykrrish I do personally know him as we study the same course at the same university. However, there is no personal bias as you will soon realise that he is known for his amazing dancing skills among a lot of people. You should check out his Instagram for a few dance clips if you don't believe me! (@trin3ergykrrish)
Krrishna is a 21 year old student who studies Chemistry at the University of Kent. He moved from France to the UK at the age of 3. He has done a guest performance for 'Gaana dance battles' at the Ministry of Sound (UK) and at 'Beat your Heart' in Switzerland. Not only does he perform at events nationally but he also performs on an international level. After performing during London Paralympics 2012 he was asked to go to Brazil (Rio de Generio) and through dance to help promote the transition from London 2012 Olympics to Rio 2016 Olympics. He has also done a guest performance for 'Dance proms' at the Royal Albert Hal in London. Well if you aren't impressed enough yet continue reading my interview with him below! After all this recognition from various people I must add that he is very humble in person. I didn't even know that he can dance until I came across his Instagram profile.

At what age did you start dancing? How did you discover your skill?

I started dancing at the age of 10, more than discovering a skill it was discovering something I really enjoyed doing. It was only after a few years my parents discovered it was skill that I had developed to a decent standard.

Did you ever take any dance classes? If yes which and who introduced you or gave you the idea?
No I had never taken dance classes as again it wasn'r something I would take further. It was simply something I did whenever I saw maybe a Prabhudeva  or Micheal jackson song as a kid

How did your peers feel about you dancing?
I am fortunate enough to always have very supportive friends who were always encouraging.

Your name as a dancer is - "trin3ergykrrish" - How did you come up with it, has it got a specific meaning to you?
I do wish the name had some secret underlying message but it came from my dance crew Trin3rgy and was simply an instagram name. But slowly became a name that I was referred to whenever I performed so I chose to keep it.

Where would you like to be in 5 years time?
Hopefully have finished my degree in Chemistry and be comfortably working. Just the same old boring expectation.

I assume your routine involves - Rehearsing, filming dance clips, travel and more. How do you keep a balance between your personal life as a student and professional life?
It's something that I've sometimes struggled with in the past and learnt lessons from it. Those lessons in turn allowed me to work out that balance between dancing, performing and my degree.

What was it like taking part in Britain's Got Talent? How did it help your development as a dancer?
It was an eye opener to the way the TV business works and how they themselves try and mould each act if they see potential in it. Whether it was a good moulding I'm not sure, but getting a standing ovation and getting very encouraging comments from the judges including Mr Simon Cowell, was probably one of those highlights that allowed me to flourish as a dancer. The TV business also were able to highlight personal attributes which helped me in particular take that forward and develop my own style in dance.

Would you say that dancing has changed your life? If so, how?
It's a change that is ever so slight. But I've had amazing opportunities to perform on various platforms in many parts of the world and meet truly inspirational people face to face. It's one of those things that I always feel I never deserve but I take it as a blessing whenever it happens.

Would you like to take up dancing on a more professional level after completing your education or is it more of a hobby?

I think dance for me has always been a hobby, I've never wanted to take it further, but the opportunities I've taken as they've come. Education and work is the expected target and goal, but dance will be something I look back and be thankful to for the love and the experience.
